Research boundary

This article explains concepts, interfaces, governance, and public research questions. It intentionally excludes private implementation details, personal information, operational secrets, and security-sensitive mechanisms. Organism language is architectural metaphor.

What belongs in the Genome Layer

The Genome layer defines persistent identity and governance constraints: service identity, role definitions, mission boundaries, permission classes, data separation rules, escalation requirements, refusal conditions, and human authority requirements.

These rules are different from a task plan. A plan may change minute to minute. Genome-level constraints should change deliberately because they shape many tasks at once.

Policy as structure

Natural-language principles are valuable, but complex systems also need policies that can be evaluated consistently. A mature Genome layer translates governance into machine-readable structure where appropriate.

The design goal is layered governance: deterministic controls for clear constraints, model-assisted interpretation for ambiguous situations, and human review for consequential uncertainty.

Relationship to the organism

The Brain proposes what to do. The Genome constrains what may be proposed. The Immune layer applies those constraints at runtime. Memory uses Genome rules to determine what can be remembered, for how long, in which scope, and for whose benefit.
